Downtown Little Rock Partnership seeks artist for 6th and Louisiana project

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Tuesday, Aug. 31) – Downtown Little Rock Partnership (DLRP) has launched a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a new downtown public art project.

Artists are invited to submit concepts or proposals for a site-specific art installation on and in the Best Park stairwell building at the corner of 6th and Louisiana streets downtown.

“Downtown Little Rock Partnership is committed to collaborating with Arkansas artists to present public art that enlivens our neighborhoods, contributes to economic vitality and enhances community connection,” Carol Worley, chair of DLRP’s Public Spaces Committee, said. “We are excited about this upcoming project because it’s situated at a well-traveled intersection downtown and there is a unique opportunity to create art both inside and outside the building.”

All artists are eligible to apply. The artist will create a design for both the inside and outside of the building. The structure measures 9-feet tall, by 9-feet wide, by 18-feet long. Work must be durable and suitable for outdoors with the ability to withstand the elements of the Arkansas climate as well as interaction with the public.

The RFP window is Tuesday, Aug. 31, through Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021. The artist will be selected by DLRP’s Public Spaces Committee on October 6th, 2021. The project will begin Spring of 2022.

The deadline to submit entries for this project has passed.
