SoMa 501 is excited to announce that this year’s SoMardi Gras Parade will take place on Saturday, February 26th at 12:00 p.m. The theme for this year is “Pirates and Popstars.” Think Madonna, Blackbeard, or maybe Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow riding down Main Street in the Black Pearl! The 1st place winner will be awarded $500 and 2nd place will receive $250. Let your imagination roll as you come up with the most creative concept! We welcome different entry styles, including floats, walking groups, classic cars, and pets!

The Root Cafe’s annual Little Rock Beard & Mustache Contest will start immediately after the parade in The Bernice Garden, followed by a Second Line band competition featuring several Little Rock School District bands. We will also have the Zydeco band Gerard Delafose and the Zydeco Gators to help us cap the festivities!

SoMa 501 Little Rock, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing economic development, public relations, historic integrity, and quality of life for the citizens of the neighborhood. As an accredited Main Street America program, we work with our local businesses, government partners, and other stakeholders to deliver events, improvement projects, and programming for the benefit of everyone that visits our stretch of Main Street from 12th to 29th Streets.
