On Sunday, March 29, 2020, dogs of all shapes and sizes will descend upon Main Street for the 4th Annual Barkus on Main Mardi Gras pet parade and party.
Presented by Hounds Lounge Pet Resort & Spa, Barkus on Main is a free, family-friendly event in the 300-700 blocks of Main Street along the Creative Corridor in downtown Little Rock.
The fun kicks off at noon with live music, a beer garden by Rebel Kettle Brewing Co., a Captain Morgan hurricane station, gumbo, a crawfish boil, plenty of beads, a dog park, vendor booths and demonstrations.
At 2:30, the Mardi Gras-themed dog parade steps off at the intersection of 7th and Main streets. The parade will travel up Main Street to 4th Street.
After the parade, the fun continues at the Mardi Gras Block Party in the 300 block of Main Street with hosts Soul Fish Cafe, Brewski's Pub & Grub, Bark Bar, AMR Architects, and CJRW.
“This is a popular event that has become a downtown tradition, and we’re thrilled to bring it back year after year,” said Gabe Holmstrom, Downtown Little Rock Partnership Executive Director. “People from all over central Arkansas love to dress up their pets, bring them downtown, and laissez bon temps rouler.”
Mandy Marshall and Justin Harris, owners of Hounds Lounge Pet Resort & Spa, added, “The pet-owning community makes up a large population of Little Rock. We love connecting with them and giving back to the community through this event.”
Every dog that is pre-registered for the parade will receive one free day of doggy daycare at any Hounds Lounge location.
Online parade registration is $20 per dog, or $35 for two dogs. Same-day registration is $25 per dog. The first 200 dogs to arrive will receive a complimentary Bark Bar Wag Bag, and all registered dogs will be eligible for prizes. Awards include Best Pet/Owner Look-Alike Costumes, Best-Dressed Pet, Best Small Dog Costume, Best Large Dog Costume, Most Original Costume, Best Float, and Judge’s Choice.
